Thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday. I don’t think eating a turkey is the best way to celebrate a holiday. But I do think the holiday is purposeful. I know I’m lucky. A teacher last year told me I was born in the jackpot of life, and I agree. I sometimes read “National Geographic” and see photos of starving children my age in Africa and Afghanistan and other warring countries. I know they would love to have a single bowl of healthy, clean mashed potatoes, and even more a whole feast with a turkey and everything. I am very thankful to have everything I have; not every kid gets as much food as they want until they can’t eat any more for dinner, and many can’t afford a special Thanksgiving dinner. I am thankful to have my entire family with me, a good home and food, and all the other little luxuries I have, such as a good bed, computers, books, a good school, and much, much more.

Great post! I think that you are absolutely right, there is an unbalance of good fortune in this world and I think we need to change it.
Unbalance of good fortune? Do you mean wealth? Good writing Christen and thoughtful comment Olivia.
