We just got back from Thanksgiving break and I was reading people’s posts about being thankful This got me thinking and remembering.
One night we were eating dinner and my sister asked why people say thank you when you donate to Unicef. My parents told her that that was because the money is for a good cause. Then my sister said, “Oh, the money goes to feed the poor starving babies in Africa.” She had said it in a mocking tone. My father told her that he could show her pictures of starving people that would make her throw up. He was right. There is an unbalance of good fortune in the world and I want to change it. I feel horribly spoiled when I think of people in third world countries.
That’s all I have to say. I just wanted to remind people that we have so much, so very much to be thankful.
I know just what you mean Olivia. Poverty is just something that on this earth is out of control. I want to change this too!
