On Wednesday, we did community service through our school. My advisory decorated pumpkins and brought them to Duke Children’s Hospital to be used at their Halloween Festival. Decorating the pumpkins was a lot of fun but when we took them to the hospital it quickly changed the mood. Seeing the hospital and thinking of all the kids who weren’t as fortunate as we are made us sad, but also we were thankful for what we have. I was in the hospital there a few months ago for meningitis, and from personal experience I know that the doctors and nurses do their best to cheer you up, even when you are really sick. I really enjoyed community service because I know that we are doing good things for other less fortunate people.
