I tested out 3 styli. My least favorite was the Amazon Basic. It was bland and did not always work. I did think the Cosmonaut (weird name, Soviet astronaut) was pretty good. However it was giant. It’s like writing with a large pen on steroids. It did, however, work very well. And now on to the the golden one, the Bamboo. It was much better than the Amazon Basic in my opinion, and it was not a monster. It worked very well and was a perfect size. If you want a stylus, I recommend this one.

My Top Five Most Used Apps by Dylan P.
My top five most used apps are:
5. Sketch Book Express- This app is very fun and creative. It gives you the ability to draw whatever you want.
4. Mind Meister-This app is used for mapping out our Giver notes. It is very cool how it set it up. It reminds me of a mind expanding its knowledge.
3. iBooks- This one is almost self explanatory. It is used for reading. We have read Cosmic, The Westing Game, and we are presently reading The Giver.
2. Google Docs- It was already very useful for writing and work on the computer but know it is you can bring it everywhere on the iPad.
1. Notes- This is the most simple but in my opinion, the most useful on this list. It comes with the iPad and does not cost any money. I use it for well, taking notes and recording homework. It is much easier than bringing a notebook around I think and I’m much more organized because of it.
The First Memory by Dylan P
The first memory Jonas received was the memory of snow. The first memory I would give him was the memory of getting my dogs. He has never seen an animal before our experienced what it’s like to own one. I think it would be very different for him to see another species and also very interesting.
My Giver Assignment by Dylan P.
I would want to be in the Department of Justice as a judge. I would be an instructor but the teaching age only goes up to 12. As a judge it would be interesting to view the cases and hear what everyone has to say.
The iPads by Dylan P
I personally find the iPads an excellent idea for academic purposes. It makes school work so much more organized and easy to keep up with. I like to take notes with it and place each one into its own separate page. It makes studying so much more simple. It has come in handy on several occasions when it comes to homework. In own personal opinion I suggest the device to a wider variety of grades.
Life is a Board Game by Dylan
Life is a board game. I am going to use some of my personal favorites as an example. Let’s use Stratego and Risk as examples. In Stratego you have to set up early and wisely. You can not have gaps in your army and you have to have a basic idea of your offensive strategy. In Life it is good to know what your going to do early and have a stellar start. At some point in life you have to know what your doing to move forward. In Risk you have to fortify occupied areas and have a good offensive and defensive strategy. It is useful to be a good strategist and tactician. You also can not remain neutral for too long or else you are prone for an attack on your countries. I learned this the hard way. In life it is great to fortify your knowledge in several subjects so you can be useful in many fields.
If I Woke Up and I Was an Adult I Would-Dylan P.
So I woke up and I noticed something different. A woman came in and started franticly trying to get me up. “You’re thirty not fifteen!” she said. “Who are you?” I asked as most people would ask if they were in this environment. She looked at me like I was an alien. “I’m your wife!” she yelled. All these memories came rushing into my head. “I’m going to be late.” I yelled. I ran down stairs and grabbed my coffee. “Good bye dear.” I yelled. Well, that was odd I thought. I got in my BMW and drove. I wondered why some people made such a big deal out of driving. I mean… and then before I knew I had crashed into my neighbors yard. Luckily I only hit a large bush. I turned around and started driving down the street. I had no idea were I was going but eventually I drove up to a college. I was addressed as professor. A teacher came up and pointed to a class room. It said 18th and 19th century warfare. I walked in to a room full of college students. I stood there for a minute. “Where did we leave of? I asked. “The Crimean War, sir. A student answered. I went on for a while on the subject and eventually ended the day on the Franco-Prussian war 0f 1870-71. Going from the Crimean war of the 1850s to the 1870s was quite a lot of information but I think they’ll do fine. I went home had dinner and went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and I was a kid again. It had been a dream.
Remember 2011 by Dylan P
This was quite a year. 2011 is a very memorable year. Here are some things I remember. I remember the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I have a foreign exchange sister who lives in Japan. I was worried about her, but luckily her town was not hit hard. I remember waking up and going downstairs and hearing that Osama Bin Laden was killed. I remember hearing about the revolution in the Middle East and having democracy in countries for the first time. I remember eating dinner at my grandparents house and seeing Andy Rooney on the T.V. Several days later he died. I remember hearing all about the candidates for the election. I remember 2011 and I am looking forward to 2012.
All Quiet on The Western Front by Dylan
I read the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Remarque. It is about a German soldier in WWI named Paul Baümer. The book is regarded as one of the greatest novels ever written. I agree with that opinion. The author himself actually fought in WWI and manipulates words in to powerful, deep, sentences. The character, Paul, sees his so called enemies as just the same men on his side, just wearing a different uniform. The book is a perfect blend of action, humor, sadness, and friendship. My only warning about the book is that it is very sad and is gritty at times. Some people might find some of it boring, but I would disagree with them. The book is not all about war. It has tons of other stuff that is also very interesting. The book has some of the best character development I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a great World War I novel, you might want to give this book a try.
A Little More About the Book by Dylan
The book I am presently writing is called Resistance. It is about Luc DuPrev, a French teenager who lives in Paris with his mom and two sisters. His father was suspected of working with the Resistance and was taken away. Luc’s brother, Jaques, is part of the Paris Resistance. Jaques helps the Resistance tear down enemy propaganda and put up signs that help boost the morale of the people of Paris. Something awful happens and Luc has to take arms with the Resistance and try to set everything right.
