How to Talk to Your Teen By: Michael S

In the book Cosmic, which we are reading in class, Liam, the main character, is reading a book titled: Talk to Your Teen. Here is some advice I would include:

Make your children do a couple of chores a day.

Make sure they are doing their homework before watching TV.

Always have one kind of vegetable/fruit on the plate for lunch and dinner.

Allowance should be given to your children who do their chores.

If they talk back to you or say bad words they should be punished.

Make sure they have fun and don’t argue with each other.

If I Were A Grown up, I Would… By Michael S

If I were a grown up I would first buy myself a bright, pink Ferrari and drive it everywhere. Then when I got bored of doing that  I would drive it into water, off of a cliff, but I would jump out of the car, into a flying suit, and start gliding everywhere. Also, if I were a grown up I would have a lot of money and have a huge house with everything you could ever want in it. Furthermore, I would be super famous and play in the NBA. Actually I would play with my friends on Ball Up (a street ball team). They would call me The Professor Junior after the real professor who would just break ankles. After all of that I would go on a cruise and eat all of the ice cream possible and go on every water slide. If I were a grown up I would have so much fun.

I have been reading a lot of books recently but on book that is one of my favorites is Travel Team by Mike Lupica. My friends have been telling me to read this because they loved it so much. It was in a book talk last year but I never thought about reading it until this year.

It is about a boy named Danny who loves basketball. His dad loves basketball too but he is never around him and his mother. Danny tries out for the famous travel team that his dad lead to a national championship when he was older, but Danny is cut from the team. Danny and his Dad show that they can make a team with other kids with a great attitude and they can show their hearts simply cannot be measured.

Christmas By Michael S

Photo from Flickr Storm

Every year for Christmas I go visit my grandparents and see my cousins. When we go to my grandparents we always do these things where we see how much we have grown and we eat this crazy dinner every night until Christmas night. On Christmas we go downstairs and eat a great breakfast then we go open our presents. The presents every year are always great. Christmas is great! If you have something to share about Christmas please comment.

Wisdom Tales By: Michael S

There once was a monkey named Sin Jin was so good at monkey ball. He thought he was the best there is. He always scored a minimum of 20 monkey points a game. One day he scored 40 monkey points in a game. He told everyone in the monkey village. Some people would say great job and some would say why are you so full of yourself Sin Jin. He said he was just so good at monkey ball.

Monkey ball was just like basketball but called monkey ball. One day a man and his monkey ball team came up to Sin Jin, the best in the town, and his team. Sin Jin was bragging to the man about how he was so good at monkey ball. After he heard Sin Jin bragging, the man challenged him to a monkey ball game. Sin Jin was so ready for some competition. They were going to play in front of the whole town and they were off.

It was a tough game until Sin Jin’s team got tired and was weak and the other team pulled away. Sin Jin’s team lost and he never loses. He blamed it on his team. They said why do you have to be so full of yourself?

Sin Jin went home and thought about what happened. He apologized to his team and everyone. He told them that he he would not be so full of himself and the town lived happy forever.

The moral: don’t be so full of yourself.

Comic Life By Michael S

In LA for the past two days we have been working on a comic about our wisdom tales. You got to pick any wisdom tale story you wanted to. I picked Antlers. It was a very fun story to write about. I used SketchBook Express to draw all of my pictures. Skitch was a little hard to use on the computer, so I used SketchBook Express on the iPad. Also, for my comic I used Comic Life. Using Comic Life was very fun.

Wisdom Tales Test by Michael S.

Today in Language Arts we took a wisdom tales test. It was an open note test. We took all of our notes on our iPads. It was a little hard to find the stories but eventually I would find them. It was so much easier than memorizing all of those stories, instead we got to use our iPads which was great. I really enjoy taking open note tests because it gives you a chance to show how much you have worked on your notes. There were many advantages to be using your iPad. For example, if you made a Mindmeister map of the similar morals it was a lot easier when you had to use it for the test. Using the iPads was a great idea.

I am Thankful for… By Michael S

I am very grateful for a lot of things, but the one thing I am very grateful for is my family. I have a big and a great family. I have two sisters, one brother, a mom, and a dad. My sisters are very nice but sometimes they can be really annoying. My brother is just like me, he loves basketball and sports. My mom is so helpful. She does the dishes, the laundry, and helps me with my homework. My dad is helpful too. He does the laundry, dishes, and practices with me for basketball. I am very lucky to have a great family.

How To Save Battery On Your iPad? By: Michael S

How do you save battery on your iPad? Well you can save battery by double tapping the middle home button. Then you will see your apps pop up. Push on a app until you see a red minus. Click on the red minus signs until all of your apps are gone. When you do that it turns off your apps. Another way to save battery is to lower the brightness on your iPad. How do you do that? Well, you go to settings on the iPad and on the side of it you will see Brightness and Wallpaper. Click on that and you will see a line with a dot lower that a little and will see you are staying at the same battery percent for a long time.

Grammar Topic By: Michael S.

grammar post

For Language Arts we had to pick a grammar topic. I picked what a homophone is. Homophones are words that sound exactly the same and are sometimes spelled exactly the same. Some homophones have three words. A way to remember homophones is you hear a sound from a phone, so they sound the same. Homophones are a lot of fun to learn about.
