I read the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Remarque. It is about a German soldier in WWI named Paul Baümer. The book is regarded as one of the greatest novels ever written. I agree with that opinion. The author himself actually fought in WWI and manipulates words in to powerful, deep, sentences. The character, Paul, sees his so called enemies as just the same men on his side, just wearing a different uniform. The book is a perfect blend of action, humor, sadness, and friendship. My only warning about the book is that it is very sad and is gritty at times. Some people might find some of it boring, but I would disagree with them. The book is not all about war. It has tons of other stuff that is also very interesting. The book has some of the best character development I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a great World War I novel, you might want to give this book a try.
Sounds like a book many people would misunderstand. I have read some books about war which aren’t about war at all. That book sounds good! Great book review.
I like how you read books so closely related to your interests. What do you want to read next?
