My advisory decorated pumpkins to take to the Duke Children’s Hospital. First, we ate lunch and then went back to our school. We each got a pumpkin and got a lot of things to decorate it with. We couldn’t carve the pumpkins because they would rot before Halloween. We went to the hospital, brought our pumpkins, and then they talked to us about their hospital. It was a really good experience and sad too because most of the children there are really sick. At the hospital they try to make the holidays as normal for the kids as they can so they don’t feel any different from other kids.

Book Review: The Hunger Games Series by Lucy W.

The Hunger Games books are really good. I have read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, but I am still not finished with Mocking Jay. I really enjoy these books because they are full of action and I never know what is going to happen. I watched the movie first so I had an idea of what the first book was about. The book was so different than the movie because it had so much detail and more things happened in the book. Catching Fire would probably be my favorite so far because it was the Quarter Quell and it always had a twist in it. In this Quarter Quell they bring back all the previous victors who represent their district. So two of the main characters, Katniss and Peeta, are brought back into the Hunger Games. I really enjoy reading these books and hope to for more movies to come out soon. Read the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Camp Cheerio by Lucy W.

The sixth grade went to Camp Cheerio at the beginning of the year. When we got there we had to get all unpacked and go in our rooms. Then we went to have lunch. I thought the food was really good. Then we went to do our first activity. We did archery, the vertical playpen and rock wall climbing. We started out with the vertical playpen. It was so much fun but kind of scary. I got to the top of some. It was really fun. Then we went on to archery. That was fun but I wasn’t too good at it at first when we started. Then we went to the rock walls. I got to the top of one and it was so much fun. After that we went to the aqua slide. It was pretty fun but the water was freezing. This was a great start to the camp. Then we went to have dinner. After that we had this night snack which was a cookie and it was really good. The next day we did tons of other activities like hiking, canoeing, mudslide and zip-line. My favorite was probably canoeing. This camp was so much fun!
