Membean by Davi

I think that Membean is a wonderful program. Membean teaches us new words, and strengthens them, before adding new words to our vocabulary. It does this with multiple choice questions, word maps, and pictures. Event though Membean has its flaws, I think that it is still better than memorizing vocabulary lists. Vocabulary lists just make you memorize the words for one week, then you can forget them. Membean revisits old words, so that you can’t just forget them. Every once in a while, one of your very first words might pop up. Because of this, you remember more words, and your vocabulary grows. In conclusion, Membean is amazing. Try it out, and share your opinions on it with a comment.

Community Service by Davi

For the second community service of the year, I went strawberry picking. We picked the strawberries so that we could donate them to the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. We traveled ten minutes from the school to a strawberry patch were you could pick your own strawberries. We picked strawberries until the container we had was full, then we were done. I tried to pack them neatly, so that I could get the most strawberries. We then went to the Ronald McDonald House to drop off the strawberries. It was amazing to see how big the house was, and how much things it had.

The Giver Assignment By Davi

I think that my assignment would be author. I would be an author because I love to read and write. I read whenever possible. Even though I am a very picky reader, I always find something to read that interests me. Writing is something that interests me greatly. I write with my friends Ryan and David, during LA class, recess, tutorial, and even French class. Writing is my passion, and I think that I would be a great author. That is why I think that the Elders would assign me the job of author.

Davi’s Series Reviews: The Alchemyst by Michael Scott

“The Alchemyst” by Michael Scott is a six book series. The series has many main characters but focuses on one pair of twins; Josh and Sophie Newman. Josh and Sophie are supposedly the twins mentioned in a prophecy and referred to as Gold and Silver. They are called this, because every person in the world has an aura of a certain color. Some people with strong auras can use them to do amazing and terrible things. Gold and Silver auras are said to be some of the most powerful and rare. Josh and Sophie are said to be, “the two that are one, the one that is all. One to destroy the world, and one to save it.” The question you’re probably having now is: who is going to destroy the world? The answer is coming up in the next paragraph.

A race of ancient and powerful beings split in two groups. Dark Elders hated the human race and wanted to destroy them. The Elders (not to be confused with Dark Elders, even thought they are both Elders) help the humans grow. Both groups of Elders became known to the humans as gods, the sources of most legends. The Dark Elders make humans immortal, in return for eternal service.

This series is a cliffhanger, much like Fablehaven by Brandon Mull.  No boring beginnings, awesome middles, and boring ends. The series will have you engrossed in the books from beginning to end. The only bad thing about the book is its repetitive language and overuse of the phrase “spoke in ____. A language that had not been heard in centuries”, and other phrases related to that one. Otherwise, this series is great. READ IT!!!!
