The Giver by Franny C

Picture by Franny Cochran, kindle version- The Giver

I’m 12 years old. This means that if my world was like the world in The Giver, I would have my “assignment.” I think that if the Elders were watching me, they might see me doing a lot of writing in my free hours. This is because I love to write. With this information, I think they would make me something that has to do with writing. Maybe scribe, or novelist, or something like that. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what kinds of writing jobs there are in the “community!”

With the jobs we have in our world today, I might be assigned teacher. This is because they might also see me doing things that have to do with teaching. I want to be a writer or teacher, or both in real life, so if I were in The Giver, I would probably get Instructor, or something to do with writing. Like I said before, though, I’m not really sure what those jobs would be! Really, I think I’d like to be surprised!

In Language Arts we are reading The Giver. One of the main characters is Jonas. He is an Eleven and is about to become a Twelve. He is waiting to find out what his assignment will be. I would think that the Elders would pick me as lawyer because I would spend all of my volunteer hours at the Law and Justice building. It probably wouldn’t be smart of them to pick nurturer, doctor, or caretaker of the old for me just because it isn’t me, you know? Although judge would be kinda fun, lawyer sounds much more fun.

In language arts class we are reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. In The Giver at the age of twelve there is a ceremony called The Ceremony of 12. At the ceremony of 12 you are given an assignment of what your job will be when you grow up. This “assignment” determines the rest of your schooling and what your career will be. I think I would be assigned an engineer. I’m always trying different things and I’m a strong math and science student. I often make new things and enjoy trying new experiments.

In Language Arts we are reading the book The Giver, and at age twelve the kids are given an Assignment. I think my Assignment would be nurturer. A nurturer is a person who cares for he newborn babies until they are given to the families. I think I would be a nurturer because I love kids and babies. I think it will be fun to care for babies. That is what I think my Assignment would be.

The Giver Assignment By: Ryan

If I was assigned to a job I would probably be a computer scientist because I am interested in video games and other electronic stuff. I could teach computer programming and and game design to help other kids and adults who are interested in this topics. I play a lot of games so I know how they work. I cold help develop the community for the future. That is why I think I might become a computer scientist.

What I Would Be Assigned by Noah

In Language Arts class we just started reading The Giver, so far from what we have read, in the book there is a community where everything is “perfect”; no war, no fear and no choices. When a group of kids turns 12 there is a ceremony. In this ceremony you are assigned a job which you will do for the rest of your life.

If I was in The Giver I think I would get the role of doctor when I turn twelve. This is because I am very skilled with my hands because of the hours of piano I do each day. I also do very well in all of my subjects in school and can understand a lot of things.

In Language Arts class we are reading the book The Giver. In this book it is a perfect community, with no pain, no war and no choices. In this book each child is given an assignment at the age of twelve; this event is called the Ceremony of Twelve. I think my Assignment would be a Nurturer. I think I would be assigned to a nurturer because I love kids. I love to help them, play with them and help them learn. Little kids are so cute and I definitely show that quality in my daily life. I would definitely think the committee of elders would assign me to that job. I would be really happy if I got to be a Nurturer, but it would be sad to release a child if they are not doing well.

The Giver Assignment by Michiko

During our language arts class we are reading the book The Giver by Lois Lowery. In the book your career is chosen for you by people who watch what you do in your free time. I think if someone choose my career for me by watching what I do in my free time and what I like I think I would be a nurturer because I think little kids are adorable. I think watching them for one year would be a fun job. Also playing with them would be fun. That is why I think if I got an assignment in The Giver I would be a nurturer.

During my language arts class, my class is reading a book called, The Giver. In this book, there is no war, fear, and pain. You would think this is a good thing but you have no choices as well. So when you are twelve years old, you have this ceremony and at that ceremony you’re assigned a job for the rest of your life until you retire. So if I were in this book, I think I would be assigned to police officer. I think I would be a good police officer because I am strong, fast, smart, and I am pretty good at aiming a gun.

We read The Giver in class. Then we discussed what kinds of jobs there are. If I were to be assigned a job, it would be engineer. I would be an engineer because I am constantly building things. Engineers design things like bridges, houses and fences. I would be very happy to be an engineer because I like building and designing things.
