Valentine’s Poems by Cole

In class a few days ago, we made Valentine’s Day Poems. It is where we take an article from a newspaper or book, then cut it out and choose random words to make a poem. What is cool about this particular kind of “poem”, is you don’t know what it will be like until you are completely finished with the whole thing. Here is what mine looks like:

Moon Over Manifest: A Book in the Past by James

I recently finished reading a book called Moon over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool. It takes place in a small town in Kansas. The main character is a girl named Abilene Tucker. Her father sent her to Manifest, the town where he grew up. When she first gets to the town she sees the sign: Manifest, a town with a rich past and a bright future. Abilene was soon to learn that the past was, yes, rich, but rich with secrets, As she is walking the preacher, named Shady, finds her and takes her into town. The town is dry and quiet, but its past is full of secrets and surprises. When she loses her father’s compass she has to work for a pot she broke in retrieving it. Sadly, the place she has to work has a front gate with the word “Perdition” on it. Perdition is a version of hell. As she works for the broken pot the woman who she is working for, Miss Sadie, tells Abilene that Miss Sadie is a diviner. Miss Sadie sends Abilene on strange hunts to find strange items. All the while Miss Sadie tells Abilene a story of the town’s past. It is a very interesting book with a wonderful ending and amazing writing. I would give it more than five stars out of five.

My First Blog Post

This is my first blog post. This is a post about the book I’m reading in LA. I am reading the book Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horowitz. It the second to last book in the Alex Rider series. I’ve already read the last book in the series so I kind of know what the conclusion is. Somehow I got mixed up. I haven’t gotten too far into it at all. The main character hasn’t done anything very interesting yet. (only on page 41)

Dragon

The book Inheritance is a great book. It is the last book in the Eragon series. It is about a peasant boy named Eragon that finds a dragon egg. He and the Dragon which he names Shaphira became best friends and they set off to find the people who destroyed their village. They find this group called the Varden who want to get rid of the king called Galbotorix. Eragon joins the Varden and with the help of all the races they manage to kill the king. After winning the war, Eragon and Saphira try to restore the riders. It is a good book but you should read Eragon, Eldest, then Brisingr in order to understand Inheritance.
