The Westing Game, is a cozy mystery that takes place in Wisconsin. Salesman Barney Northrup rents out six apartments to different people and family. However, he has made a mistake. Then one night, Chris Theodarakis sees a man limping into the Westing mansion, which is near Sunset Towers. In Language Arts class, we read a mystery called “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin. Sixteen heirs with seemingly nothing in common move into a new apartment complex called Sunset Towers, not knowing that it will change their lives. There was a dressmaker, a secretary, an inventor, a doctor, a judge, a bookie, a burglar, a bomber, and a mistake. When the owner of the town that they live in, Westingtown, says in his will that he was murdered, all sixteen of theses are given partners, put into groups, and asked to solve the mystery for 10,000,000 dollars. What will their different solutions be? Is one of them a murderer? And what really happend to Sam Westing?
I absolutely loved this book!!! It is one of the most confusing things I ever read, which made it much more interesting. I loved all the characters, the plots, and I ESPECIALLY loved the end!!!

The Westing Game is a mystery novel written by the award winning author Ellen Raskin. The way the book played out had me guessing until the end. At first all we know is that Sam Westing was murdered and that his murderer is among his heirs. There are sixteen heirs that have a chance to inherit Sam Westing’s fortune. To do so they must take part in a game to figure out who murdered Sam Westing. Throughout the rest of the book Ellen Raskin sets many false paths that I fell for myself. Soon I was wondering what in the book was what I thought it was. Near the end of the adventure heirs are still unable to figure out who did it. That is only one problem because they will soon find out that the the guilty one, who took Sam’s life will soon take another. All of this leads up to a very exciting climax involving sacrifices, trials, and finally justice.

I just finished The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. It has several major plot twists throughout the story, but I won’t tell. We did Trading Cards on all of the people with pictures and facts. Here is mine on Sandy Mc. Southers. That was one of the 25 cards we did.
The Westing Game by: Davi
When I first started reading The Westing Game, I thought it was just going to be another mystery, where you know who committed the crime halfway through the book. As my class progressed through the book, I started to realize that The Westing Game was much more complicated than I thought. Ellen Raskin, the author, writes so many clues; some are hidden, and some are put right under your nose, but you don’t notice them. Simple words such as rose (don’t worry, this is not a spoiler) suddenly become blaring clues. It’s amazing how such a simple book can be so complex. The Westing Game may seem like just another mystery book, but I strongly recommend that you read it.
Westing Game Favorite Character By Mariana R
My favorite Westing Game character is Turtle Wexler because she is funny and she is smart. Her mother doesn’t really pay attention to her much so she goes and stays with other people like Baba/Flora Baumach and her sister Angela Wexler. In the end of the book she is the one that wins the game and she is the one that stays with Sam Westing/Barney Northrup/Sandy McSouthers/Julian R. Eastman for the last minutes of his life.
